The Camera - History and Information

1. Explain the “camera obscura” effect. How is it achieved?
      - The camera obscura  effect is when you are in a dark room and you drill a hole in one of the sides and the outside scene is projected on the opposite wall.
2. What invention during the 17th Century helped man get a step closer to creating the modern camera?
     - The invention that helped us get a step closer was the glass lense invented by Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens
3. What were the parts of the first modern camera invented by Niepce?
     - The parts of the first modern camera invented were the film, the glass lense and a dark box.
4.What do modern digital cameras have in common with Niepce’s camera?
     - Modern digital cameras are like Niepce's camera because light passes through the lense into the camera and exposes the film.
5. What do digital cameras use to capture an image?
     - Digital cameras use an electronic sensor called a CCD to capture images.

6. What is the difference between the Auto Mode and the Program mode?
      - Auto mode the camera will complete flash for you on program mode you can control the flash along with some other settings.
7. What is the Portrait mode used for? How does it work?
      - The portrait mode is for bluring out the background. The camera will use the fastest available lens setting.
8. What is the Sports mode used for? (not just sports) How does it work?
      - The sports mode is used to freeze motion. For this the camera will use the highest shutter speed.

9. Why should you do a half press on the trigger button?
      - You should do a half press on the trigger because it  helps you in any ways including, faster camera response time, more control over focus, and it encourages better composition.

10. What does this symbol mean?

 When would you use this?
       - This symbol means it is the flash button.
      - You would use this to change the flash modes.
